Song No.3 from the Anthem of Eon
.
To me, one of the best songs I have been involved with. Fantastic write, performances and mix from the gang.
Galileo's Child is about the space probe sent out to Jupiter..it's mission was to collect data about the planet and transmit that back to earth. At the end of its life/payload it was allowed to be dragged into Jupiter's gravitational field where it would crash/burn to its destruction.
Galileo's Child (DePriest/Gupta/Fletcher/Wilkerson (c) 2010, 2013)
Verse 1:
Six years through the cold and dark,
Out here near the great red mark
A journey of a half a billion miles.
Above these neverending storms
Not like earth, so blue and warm.
I bear his name, Galileo's child.
Verse 2:
Through a tube of wood and glass.
My father saw this lonely path.
A giant's daughters no man had ever seen.
And did he dream his future son
Guided by the math he'd done,
To places where no man had ever been?
Chorus:
Fourteen years in space and time
To the Jovian pace I synchronize
Watch us through my father's eyes.
See us dance across the skies,
Tracing ellipses through the night
Gaining knowledge as I'm flying by
My father, in another time,
Saw it all within his mind,
And I feel I belong we're.
Jupiter's daughters and Galileo's Child.
Verse 3:
And when our dance is finally done
Like Daedelus beneath the sun
I'll fall into that giant's atmosphere.
Maybe some small part of me
Will cross into eternity
And I'll find my father waiting there.
Verse 4:
And that's the real discovery;
What lies beyond eternity?
Each of us was made by someone's hand.
And though I cannot love or smile
I can fly and dance a while
In places far beyond the reach of Man.
Chorus
