Here's a song started by Snake.
After posting my vocal audition we completed the song off-site.

Svante Lahti - music, guitar, bass, programming
Mark Shrider - vocal, mix, lyrics (1 Corinthians 13)

Faith, Hope & Love

(verse 1)
love is patient & love is kind
it does not envy & it does not boast
love's to protect & it always trusts
love always hopes & it perserveres

(chorus)
faith, hope & love are all that remain
the greatest is love because love never ends
like prophecy & tongues disappear in the perfect shining light of love

(verse 2)
love is not proud & love is not rude
it's not self-seeking & it doesn't dishonor
love keeps no record of wrongs people do
no joy in evil but rejoice in the truth

(chorus)

(verse 1)

(verse 2)

(chorus)
(chorus)

***from 1 Corinthians 13***

Great classic rock song, guys!

Mark, you should sing more! That style suits your voice well.

Thanks Steffen.
Sometimes, like with songs like this, the vocals come naturally.
Other times i struggle to find a melody.
Or the melody in my head i just can't get out because it's out of my range.
I like to sing but still not that comfortable with my voice  ---  but I'm getting there.
Thanks again for your vote of confidence.

I think a lot of us are the same way with our own vocals but you did a great job with this.  Love the last line at the end of each chorus. Great job guys!  :)

You should sing much more too, Errol (you are always welcome on my tunes). But do get yourself a better mic! :)

Regards,
  Steffen

Well, apparently I've been warned that this is an old post, but I don't care! >:D

I just wanted to say, good Job, Mark on not only the vocals but also the cool melody! 8) I especially like how the melody for the last part of the chorus completely changes. I like the entire chorus but I think that's my favorite part! :)

I like the tone of your voice. I like that grit in it. I don't really hear much that resembles Ozzy's voice except when you sing the words, NOT ENVY AND IT ...and all of a sudden, the grit disappears and Ozzy comes to the surface in a big way. I mean, that little part sounds a lot like Ozzy! ;)

It's too bad this is in the finished section cause I would have loved putting some higher harmony in this.  ^-^

Anyways, well done!:O )

thanks Ed.

yeah i never thought i had much ozzy-ness in my voice.
i suppose maybe in parts.
i always thought i leaned toward a gene simmons type or maybe a blackie lawless.
as for the melody...
i never really worked on it --- the beginning lyrics and melody just sort of came out naturally.
just tried to stay in the pocket of the chord change.
some high harmonies would have been cool.
i have a bad habit of deleting files after i finish a project so sadly i don't have the files to be able to reopen the project.

Yeah, I was actually thinking more along the lines of the guy in ZZTop who sings the baritone songs like, CHEAP SUN GLASSES.

In my opinion, some of the best melodies come naturally like that!  ;)

That's OK, maybe you'll keep me in mind for future projets? ^-^

I think our voices would sound pretty cool mixed together. I do sound a little bit like Ozzy when I sing high. The 2 songs I used to love to do in Karaoke were War Pigs and Mamma I'm Commin' Home. I used to get a really good response from the crowd with those 2. 8)

I can relate to what you said about your range, making the melody limited at times. That's why when I create a melody for another singer, I do it with my falsetto so I don't have much of a limit when it comes to singing the melody.

But if it's a melody I'm making for me too sing, I try not to go much higher than a B4. That's why the highest note in the song, Winter Mirror is a B4.

OK, I think I'm starting to babble. ;D

Anyway, I agree with others, I think you should sing more.
I look forward to hearing your next project! :)

oh yeah i can do the zz top...(rumors spreadin' 'round 'bout that texas town in that shack outside lagrange) :)
i can usually do an okay rob halford as long as it's the lower stuff...not the high voice so much.
i do like to switch up my voice with gravely sort of thing and a cleaner smoother sound depending on what I'm singing.
here are other finished projects i sang on...
