I present this finished collaboration with a lot of pleasure....outstanding contributions from the guys - Bill - with his guitars and a blinder of a solo, George - with a strong vocal capturing the mood of the lyric perfectly and Marcel - with a driving drums part full of tasty flourishes and pushes.

Then Bill was kind enough to assume mixing duties and delivered a first class mix.

Thanks guys for lending your talents to one of my songs. You've made it shine.

I'd also like to thank Bobby Watson for his initial involvement and for spotting technical deficiencies in the original bed.

Andy

The Man On The Run (Lyrics/Music: Andy Gupta (c) 2007, 2012)

D
You will find me there
               C                       D
Where the ground meets the sky
D               C              G     D
I am feeling free feeling free
D
I want to go on forever
C                      D
Down beside the river
D                           C             G    D
To where it's leading me leading me
           C   Am G
I don't know
          D
I don't care
              Am G C
if I'd let it go
         D
I'd be there

It's the freedom to wander
Which always attracts me
I can touch it it's so near
Away from the daily life
Away from all that fighting
That goes on, on and on
I've been there
Caught in the snare
I've been in it
And I've seen it yeah

G
Man on the run
      D
You go on run and hide
G                        D
They can't let you keep on running free
G
Man on the run
Bm
They won't let you go
CaddG
 They will seek you
GaddG
 They will break you
              A
They will take you back inside
                               Asus4 A D
Oh where you can you hide

Solo : over D C G x4

You can never be happy
Never be at peace
The hunters will always be there
A few days of freedom
That's all you get
Come on back to your cage
You can laugh
You can cry
But are you free?
Oh can you fly?

Man on the run....

Nice tune.
Andy you seem to have a way of directing everyone in your collabs that brings the best out of them and it shows in great productions like this.
Nice job everyone.

Great stuff. I got back from holiday last night to find that two recent songs I was had finished (Living In Sin and this one), and they both sound great.

It makes me happy :) :) :)

I post a most of the songs I sing on "The Modern Vocalist" for feedback. I got this feedback for Man On The Run:

Totally unique. This is what it would sound like if Roger Daltrey sang for Guns and Roses. You have the high, fuzzy arpeggiated chord played as single notes, ala Slash. Joined by a melodic bass providing counterpoint, ala Duff McKagan. The beginning harkens back to "Sweet Child of Mine." Then you introduce a vocal line and style that sound like it could have been in "Tommy."

Kind a of Slash-like laid back blues solo. Sweet.

Definitely rock, perfect mix. Nice high note, too. It made sense and totally fit. So, when you are touring the southern states of USA?
