With great pleasure I present another of Paul's lyrics, this time set to a hard rock/metal arrangement.

Paul has a great knack of coming up with lyrics which tickles "the Spinal Tap" (remember Stonehenge :) side of my writing I suppose!

Once again, the music was carried along on the powerful shoulders of my fellow MCS'ers. Mike the six string warrior with a blistering array of guitars (check out the muscular riffs, and the solos), George laid down a scorching vocal in an inspired reading, Erik provided a thunderous rhythm accompaniment, and finally Argle wrapped it all up with a powerful speaker blowing mix.

I can't thank you enough guys.

Finally I would like to thank NickT for his initial contributions and encouragement during the development of the song.

Athena (Lyrics:PVD/Andy, Music:Andy (c) 2012)

(v1)
Today the times are changing
There's a need for courage and wisdom
When there's a purpose, there's a stand
Like Athena, daughter of a Titan

(v2)
The forces gather in the distance
And the winds are blowing strong
The sands are moving, they've shifted
The masses are speaking as one

(bridge)
The sun will rise over her shoulder
And her helmet will reflect the rays
She will stand guard over the cities
With an ever watchful gaze

(chorus)
And ....
The Lady Athena guides them
Like Jason and Ulysses
For its total victory she foresees
The enemy falls to their knees

Solo

(v3)
The tomorrows will not come easy
Rebuilding cannot erase the past
Deep wounds always leave a scar
And the road ahead is far

(Bridge2)
Athena she sprang from Zeus's head
And carried a thunder bolt in her hand
Sharp like the point of a steel tip spear
They'll rise above it all, they'll be lifted

Chorus
And ....
The Lady Athena guides them
Like Jason and Heracles
For its total victory she foresees
The enemy falls to their knees

Outro solo

The Band:

Paul Dempsey: lyrics
George Williams: Vocals
Mike Woodford: Guitars including solos
Erik Koskas: Drums
Andy Gupta: Bass, Keyboards
Adam Kirby: Mix, SFX

So nice... Damn GG, you always remind me of Paul Stanley, specialy in the high notes!!!

Nice keys Andy... and the bass too, of course.

Paul, top notch words, as usual.

Mike, super guitar arrangement, YOU ROCK.

Eric, you drummed it just right and tight, really nice.

Argle, the mix sounds fat and powerful

I like it, really.
Live the best you can 'cause you're gonna be dead for a long time.
Respect
Paulo Gomes

Sounds awesome guys. I love the the guitar riffs. Would have liked the solo to to outro over the end.

All performances and production are great!

This turned out much better than if you had me on it!  :D

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the listen and the nice review.

The guys were superb and yes the guitars do shine :).

With you on it it would have turned out - different - and just as good in its own right I'm sure :)

Cheers
Andy

Somebody added some High-Octane Jet Fuel to this baby... it's SMOKIN!!
I love everything that Paul writes, especially when it comes to history and mythology... he knows how to nail the story and wrap it up in a way that works great as lyrics... but I ain't tellin Andy anything that he doesn't already know. ;D
The music is as fine as anything out there, and I'm wondering when George is gonna change his moniker to "microphonegeorge". 8) ^-^

Thanks all.

I keep intending to pick up the guitar and get stuck in, but every time I do another great sounding song turns up that I can do some singing on instead.

Mike's guitars really brought this to life.

Paul's lyrics are always great fun to sing. :)

George

George can often be found playing stringy things, and singing...
