Hi MCS,

This has to be one of my personal favourites....a great lyric from Paul, super "Godspell-esque" vocals from George, stunning guitar work from new boy Jeff, lovely textural work on the keys from J meister....and nicely tied together by a great mix from NickT.

I really like the early 1970s feel to the sound, the 5/4 timing for the bridge, and Nick gave me a super sound on the bass!

I hope you enjoy the tune. Obviously I did  ::)
Andy

Atlas (lyric: PVD, music:Andy) (c) 2011

(v1)
As the world grows smaller
Borders mean nothing at all
For some it's a heavy load
While others are standing tall
When something happens
Now everybody knows
Nothing can be hidden
When information flows

(v2)
Images fill the screens
As the freedom expands
And many can be heard
Screaming their demands
Yes, the world grows smaller
And it's still a heavy weight
But everyone moving forward
Is by no means a mistake .....

(bridge)
Like Atlas before, the strong will endure
And shoulder the hopes of the many just like before

(chorus)
As the world changes
Can be overwhelming
But the net has been cast
For many it's beginning

Solo

(v3)
And as enlightenment moves
With lightning bolt speed
Echoes of the ancients
Their secrets finally freed
As countless cultures collide
There's more harmony than rage
With every layer exposed
It's time for a New Golden Age

(chorus)
As the world changes
Can be overwhelming
Shades of the Titans
On the shoulders of Atlas

End solo

The Cast:

Paul Dempsey: Lyrics
George Williams: Lead and backing vocals
Jay Schankman: Piano, organ
JCHalp: Lead and rhythm guitars
Andy Gupta: Music, bass
Erik Koskas: Drums
Nick Testa: Mix/Mastering

this turned out beautifully. Great interpretation George, nice drum track, great first song on MCS Jeff, hope you contribute more to our tunes here!

And of course Andy and Paul make a great songwriting team once again! Thanks for letting toss in a few notes :)

hey Paul,

Im glad you liked the final result. As I said before, your lyrics for this are top drawer, possibly my favourite. It was truly an instance of serendipity that it just fitted some music i was working on at that time like a glove!

Thanks J :).

Your keys work for the song is just "so right" with loads of interesting things happening throughout.

It's always a pleasure and a privilege to work with you. Hope we can do more - lots more!

Yeah this was a good one. Nice pipes George, and well mixed especially for headphones.

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.

I missed this arriving in the finished - I love it!.

As for the Godspell reference, it's one of my favourtes, right after JC Superstar (as some of you know).

All the harmony vox took some work, but came out well. Many thanks to Steve (pleasuredome) for advice on how to do that over an Indian meal a year ago!

George
George can often be found playing stringy things, and singing...

So wheres' the next segment of this musical  :)?
