A little pop tune made in a week.

Docmidnite: Vocals, melody, acoustic guitar, co-lyrics
Johnny: Lyrics
Era:Mix, arrangement and composing/synths
-Made with Logic 9, Avid Mbox Pro and a iPad (Moog Animoog / Korg iElectribe)
-21 tracks / 6 synths /
-Not mastered / masterbus compression with T-Racks 3

Whatta week! As a newbie here I decided to have a try  @ MCS. I didnt really expect anything... I put the bed out wishing a story that fits to title: Here I am. And melody that humms in my head  :) After a few days out of town, when coming back home I realised that Doc and Johnny had allready done the job - just like I wanted - wow  :)
Thanks guys! Feel like home here.

Lyrics by Johnny, co-written with Doc:

Here I Am

(vs)
Do you need an explanation
Why I am the way I am...
I could fill your mind with lame excuses
even draw you diagrams...

(vs)
I'm telling you, "I'm sorry"
For the damage I have caused
I'm asking you, "Forgive me,
and to overlook some flaws"

(ch)
Here I am...
Without you life is shifting sand
I roll along like a broken wheel
It all feels so surreal
here I am....
"Praying you still give a damn"
Here I am...Here I am...Here I am

(vs)
I think you know how much I love you
I'm a crystal in your hands
No one else, have I, above you
So try to understand

(vs)
I'm telling you, "I'm sorry"
For the damage I have caused
I'm asking you, "Forgive me,
and to overlook some flaws"

(ch)
Here I am...
Without you life is shifting sand
I roll along like a broken wheel
It all feels so surreal
Here I am...
"Praying you still give damn"
Here I am...Here I am...Here I am

(vs)
What seemed inconsequential
Became your final straw
Tiny things...so essential
Were the things I never saw

Thank you Paul! 8)

Coming from one sooo gifted is such a tasty treat!  :)

It keeps me coming back, again an' again!

As well you know Paul,

It's the vocalist we owe our greatest thanks! ;)

In this case...It's Docmidnite!!! ::)

What a lovely surprise...

I was literally on my message page

Trying to figure a way to twist "Holger's arm" from here! ;D :D

Suddenly..."Bam!" there was a beautiful voice singing words that needed changing ::) ;D

Era! they don't always work out like this, but this time I'm glad it did :)

Last year at this same time...

I was new, so i messaged, Ian (stonehead) to ask for help with 'CBGBs"

8 hrs later, it was practically finished and the results were amazing... 8)

After-which, Stoney and i haven't done another thing together :( :-[ :'(

Let's not make this a re-occuring theme >:(

Here's to this one!

And more to come...

Cheers, my friends! :) ;D Love the tune

Hi guys,

Nice one!! Good lyrics and performances, Henry -  the vocal's pretty good.

It has got an 80s feel, which makes a nice change :).

Era- congratulations on completing your first collab on MCS. One week huh - typically it takes a year ;)

Thank you "Era", for the lyric kudos, i do appreciate your kindness! :)

i had a similar experience about a year ago...

i strolled in one day, and there was a beautiful piece of music by "Soulfrontier" (Holger Bremer)

We went on to do "Fair Weather Friends" together and have since teamed up on several pieces  8)

i'm determined to make an album together, but it may take a few years! ;D

i love writing to the music, but i struggle finding the melody :(

Soooo i just write what i feel the music is saying and hope for a guy like Henry, or you to help it along

Fortunately, there are several here with wonderful abilities ;)

I'm happy to work with you on whatever, just holler! ;D 8)

Cheers!

Nice song guys. Great job on the vocals Doc. I really like the choruses.  8)

I realize that this song is a pre-production but I'd still like to hear a better ending. A fade out doesn't work with this tune.

Nice and quick guys!  :)

Thanks Dave, Andy and Tricia  :)
@ Dave: I am working with a new one.. Different one. But you are right, last choruses needs remaking, variations, and a proper ending.. Someday. ;)

Fine - if nobody will say it I will - it appears MCS is entering a new Era. ;)

Seriously though, you were blessed to have a fine team jump in to help Era. It's kind of hard for me/Paul/Johnny to collaborate, as we all are lyricists... but that doesn't stop us from always cheering each other on. These lyrics are a fine example of what Johnny can do, and I know both he and Paul would agree with me, that us lyricists are FOREVER grateful for what the singers and musicians here at MCS do with our words.
As far as singers go, Henry is the Prince of Pop... and he also plays a mean guitar.

All in all, a mighty fine entry for the Finished Forum. 8) 8)

Cheers,
John
