Hi,this started as an over long bare acoustic song,Tricia heard it & liked something about it,but it was too long for her,So she chopped it up & completely re-arranged the piece...making it her own. When I heard her singing demo I knew I just had to follow her lead.Jimmy came up with lyrics quick smart,Tricia & Jimmy worked those out between themselves.Preston then came up with a great Bass line that lifts the song up to a somewhere new.We had a slight difference of opinion on whether a slide guitar or what solo should go in the song? So in the spirit of democracy ,(its great living in a democracy)I did two versions(which shall be posted here).Tricia doesnt know I will post her favoured version here,All these great folks made this one happen but I really think that Tricia is the Queen of this song, thank you everybody.

Old Boxes
by Jimmy and Tricia

In the darkest corner of the attic
painful memories lying under plastic
and she doesn't like it, not at all

She will pack all day as tears are flowing
erasing memories as she is going
throwing it in boxes till pain is gone

chorus:
anything he loved
 lingered in her hand
everything he was
 she'd never understand

moving on, should never be this way
but it might solve her problem in this case
memories In old Boxes could be sent away

chorus:
anything he loved
 lingered in her hand
everything he was
 she'd never understand

break

and his works and riches all around
only make more tears fall to the ground
perhaps closing a box can heal a wound

chorus:
anything he loved
 lingered in her hand
everything he was
 she'd never understand

I've been watching this one and I have to say "FANTASTIC!" Very memorable. I love the sliding melody line of the verses and the ascending notes of the chorus. Really like driving guitar that keeps pushing things along and the vocals are great.  Seriously good Bass too! :) :)

wow
A woman is on trial for beating her husband to death with his guitar collection.
The judge says "First offender?"
The woman says "No, first a Gibson, then a fender."

I really enjoyed working on this tune with this crew. :)

Great feel to the guitars Captain. (You know I liked the slide too).  ;)

Tricia, you just nailed the vocals, hats off to you!

Jimmy, I don't think I ever said how much I loved the lyrics you wrote. They stick in my head. I have been fortunate enough to never have lost a spouse, but I've helped others pack up who have. It certainly never occurred to me to write a song about the experience, but I'm glad you did. Very well done Sir.

Hi Preston wow and many thanks. I had a lot of fun writing the lyrics with Tricia. Her lyrics are just great for the song. And it is cool hearing you playing on the songi. I've never been married myself but I've lost some women in my life. But when I wrote this song I was thinking about my Fiance Merrie She said before she's not going anywhere. But she said she throw the 'Old Boxes' at me instead lol. I think she do that to. Everyone did a fantastic job! Thank you Preston your friend Jimmy.
