Billy at his zaniest.  ;)

Music/Arrangement/Instrumentation/Vocals: Billy Playle
Lyrics: Donna Devine

(Esoteric discussion is fine, but sometimes we simply need to smell the roses.  ;) )

Blah-blah Blah-blah Blah-blah

(v1)
I came to the table in anticipation
Eager for the give and take
Of dinner conversation
A book, a film, a piece of news
But it was quickly clear
The only views to be expressed
Among the group of four
Would not be very topical
But largely philosophical
So once we'd passed the salad
A dialogue began
And though the meal was lovely
When I remember what I can
It's...

Chorus 1
Blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah
Blah-blah ground of being

Blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah
Knowing without seeing

Blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah
Blah-blah Eckhart Tolle

Blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah
Universe grown smaller

(v2)
The third guest was quiet, sat cradling her chin
I slipped her a quiet wink
She answered with a grin
Everything we'd heard before
Rushed in to fill the space
As if the door to insight
Among the group of four
Could not include things topical
But only philosophical
So once we'd passed the salad
A dialogue began
And though the meal was lovely
When I remember what I can
It's...

Chorus 2
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
Blah blah transcendental

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
Blah-blah elemental

Blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah blah
Transluscent revolution

Blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah blah
Spiritual evolution

Insert
Soon my eyes grew heavy as the dialogue droned
I should have been impressed
The list of words was finely honed
Retrocognition
Psychic birth
Paradigm shift
A new earth
Pain body
Cosmic Christ
Byron Katie
Geopathic
Downward pull
Harmonic convergence
Gaia's emergence

Bridge
As the chicken ratatouille
Cooled in the pot
And the chardonnay warmed
In the bottle
I looked to the open balcony in silence
Where twilight had begun to bruise
In colours of love or of violence
And the silvery leaves of a poplar
Twisted in the soft wind
That would usher in rain
And by morning the world
Would smell fresh and new again

But in the meantime it was...

Chorus 3
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
Blah-blah transcendental

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
Blah-blah elemental

Blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah blah
Transluscent revolution

Blah-blah blah-blah blah-blah blah
Spiritual evolution

Outro
Then I turned and smiled at the speakers
Wondering how long it would last
Till the chattering jaybird of knowledge
Would reach a dead end
After flying in narrowing circles
Up its own tiny ass

Billy, a few fans have piped up.  ;)

Donna
--------------------------------
HaHa Ha Ha Ha
Nice accent but we Americans busy ourselves cursing the referess, umpires, and officials at the old ballgame.
Some swing soaring fantastic music, and words Batin, always sway the imagination!!!
Sing part was a super cool idea!!!     rittmo'
--------------
Sweet work from both of ya! Love it!   RJC
--------------
An interesting collaboration. Nice work, Donna and Billy. The vocal shift was a nice surprise and the song certainly accomplishes is Jazz objective by grasping the imagination of the listener. Enjoyed.  Dave
-------------------
Very creative to mildly put it. Good job here....   Alan
---------------------
Hilarious and makes a great hidden point - I't not what you know but who you know. Love the music in the entire song, the changes are really cool. The vocal is super and plays so nicely off the vocal. A real cool tune here.  Michael
--------------------
HA! and HAHA!! HAHAHAHA! This is crazy funny! Boy can I relate! Fantastic music - fantastic accent! Love it - Love it!  Diane
----------------------
Oh my, how creative this is. Love, love, love the change of tempo and the jazz chorus! Wow, what a great collab. Interesting lyrics, Donna and Billy is a musical genius!  Angie
-----------------------
Perhaps too transcendental, elemental, and revolutional for me...LOL. Probably is how a lot of dinners go, but I would have quit listening before the blah, blahs....in real life  Jon
-----------------------
Big applause and Cheering for this fantastic talk-song. What an excellent imaginative lyric, as always, and my, my, Billy is a consummate professional. Great job from both of you. Annie
-----------------------
Very nice you two.   Peter
-------------------------
Funny jazz laden cool creation.  James
-------------------------
Love the music track .. nice ... Cool lyric so nicely put together ...
Such beautiful words in the bridge almost too nice for this blah blah topic LOL.
Enjoyed it ... now going to look up most of the words in the dictionary :)  Mike

I love this ...very clever indeed and very entertaining ...you should both be really pleased with how this worked out ... COOL

Hey Donna, :)

You don't need to be brave to love this.
I love inventive, anything, and this piece is not trying to sound like anything else..."How can you not love it"!
I would have liked to have heard more background dinner noise (hillarity), al la the Beatles, "Yellow Submarine", but that's a personal nit...It's a great piece of pure invention...All around inspired stuff....Johnny

Cool tune Donna !!!

Love the tempo changes and I get a kinda Zappa-feel from this. A GOOD thing in my book. ;)
Geir

Yes indeed..love the sophistication and tongue in cheek value:))
Wonderous lyrics Donna... and cool for cats singing....pretty much my cuuppa T
Imagination rules!   ;) Nick
------------------
one of the best i have heard on this site (SC]! so well put put together, love the sarcasm. sounds like parties i have been to. i could go on and on blah blah blah. love this.  Terry
----------------
fabulous chorus, this a journey, you've done it again donna !  (and I agree, chardonnay + chicken  = win )
-----------------
Yep been to some of them parties, I normally end up blind drunk in the kitchen. Not so many invites these days. Hurray. Love the lyrics..........Willie
Actually I loved all of it...W
----------------
Outstanding good piece of music. Your lyrics works perfect on this kind jazzy music - the atmosphere has been captured well. Fine!!  Kari
---------------
Frank Zappa came immediately to mind.  Very fine production.  Can't wait 'til the video's finished. Enjoyed.  Leigh
----------------
That's a real professional production on this one. It is different, but we would get nowhere in life if no one pushed the boundries. I was never into Zappa, but through the years because of people like many on this Forum [SC], you do begin to appreciate the quality of it. The musicians and vocalists on this have done a wonderful job.
----------------
AWESOME PRODUCTION!!!! A real Treat and Fun Listen!!! Great Stuff Donna and Billy  JIM
----------------
I'm lying in bed and listening to some of the songs I have recently downloaded. This one is simply awesome. Both lyric and music are highly professional IMO. I'm gonna listen again. And again ...Regards, Steffen
-------------------
Very amusing and very coooooooooooool! I'm sure we have all been to dinner parties like that! It should be in Comedy Fest [on SC] really, there's a lovely wry, tongue in cheek angle here. Fantastic production and great treatments of the blah blahs on the chorus.  Cheers, Nigel

I've already commented this elsewhere, but I have to say it again: GREAT lyric and production.

I've listened to it a lot of times, and a lot more to come. :)

CD, AviR, Paul, and Steffen, a big thank you for the listen and the comments.  :)
Steffen, have you become our official fan club?  ;)

Billy, a few more kudos for you.  ;)

Your take on the topic of boring dinner parties is very well done!  I like the zaniness of the music arrangement and the flow of the song. The outro made me laugh out loud, and was the perfect end to the song!  Ann
-------------------
I can't say I've ever been at a dinner party like THAT. But that was a wild, entertainingly witty composition. Some crazy, jazzed up beat poetry like the kind they used to keep in stock at City Lights. Nice work. The Beat lives on!  Dan
-----------------
I love it! I love the blah blah blah, it definitely makes the song... This really has a great feel to it.   Dottie
--------------
I got a kick out of it. Couldn't figure out if I was I a jazz club, an art gallery, or a poetry slam. Weird, but entertaining. Ott
--------------
Definitely, but definitely fun too!
Love the blah-blah-blahs in there - in my headphones they're echoing all over the place. LOL. I think the production is perfect for this little piece.  Thanks, gave me a smile!
Thanking my lucky stars I don't wind up in dinner parties like that all too often. hahaha.
Linda
---------------------
This is REALLY COOL! VERY CLEVER! The lyric is genius, and what a fun execution of the song!
Polly
--------------------
What a riot! Very interesting production, but given the wordy lyric and topic, now I can't imagine it any other way. Really well done. The blah-blah chorus reminds me of the Peanuts cartoons. When an adult speaks, all you hear is "Wah-wah-wah"!  Ricki
