I hope you enjoy this bouncy little rocker.    ;)  Billy's marvellous composing, along with J's glorious keys and David Staylor's superb vocals.

Music/Arrangement/Guitar/Instrumentation/Mix: Billy Playle
Keys: Jay Schankman ("J")
Vocals: David Saylor
Lyrics: Donna Devine

A Kiss-Me Shade of Red

(v1)
We met for the first time
In a music shop
I was searching for soul
She wanted rock
She looked at me sideways
Then I saw those lips
I dropped Otis Redding
And my heart nearly flipped

Pre-chorus
Kiss-me red lips have spun me right around
Love crept up without making a sound

Chorus
She doesn't leave love notes
Oh no, instead
She scrawls them on the mirror
In a kiss-me shade of red

Instrumental break

Chorus
She doesn't leave love notes
Oh no, instead
She scrawls them on the mirror
In a kiss-me shade of red

(v2)
Whenever I'm with her
It?s easy to unwind
And it makes me feel good
To know the girl is mine
I love how her laughter
Melts away the blues
She brings the sunshine
Wherever she goes

Pre-chorus
Kiss-me red lips have got me out of control
She keeps my heart singing and rocks my soul

Chorus
She doesn't leave love notes
Oh no instead
She scrawls them on the mirror
In a kiss-me shade of red

Instrumental (piano) break

Repeat Chorus
She doesn't leave love notes
Oh no instead
She scrawls them on the mirror
In a kiss-me shade of red

Bridge
I'm not much of a talker
But she loves my hands
Says they speak a language
That she understands

Pre-chorus
Kiss-me red lips have made my life complete
They took my soul and rocked it off its feet

Chorus
She doesn't leave love notes
Oh no, instead
She scrawls them on the mirror
In a kiss-me shade of red

Repeat Chorus
She doesn't leave love notes
Oh no, instead
She scrawls them on the mirror
In a kiss-me shade of red

Wow Donna and the Blues Boys,

This certainly is an enjoyable keys based boogie!!!

Great arrangement and performances - really love J's parts.

Kind of a southern rock meets "Lay Down Sally" feel to it as well.

Well done!
Andy

Sorry to be late getting back to thank you all for your wonderful comments. I'm so pleased you like the song. The lyric was a long time in the pipeline, and then Billy graciously took it on board and performed his magic.  ;D
David did a fantastic job on the vocals, "J"'s keys are beyond superb, and of course the music, well... it's Billy's What more can I say? ;)

CD, I suppose it does seem like a kidnapping...  ;D
