Oh great - I liked Jennifer as well. Look forward to hear the revised mix.

I could have sworn I heard a twangy stringed instrument - guitar then?

My taste - retro rock, prog rock all with bass and drums mixed high ;D

Andy

Thanks for listening, Andy! :) I wanted a 70s sound, but late 60s is even better for this kind of song. ;)

Do I know your taste?  :-\  8)

indian percussion, flute, and sitar??
No sitar. :) 8)

I've just finished a remix of "Jennifer" - that one does have a sitar. I'll post it here in a couple of days.

Regards,
  Steffen

guitar then?
Yep. :)

Ah, yes, now I do remember. :D

Well, the bass is pretty dominant in this song - now I understand why you like it. 8)

As for Jennifer: I wanted to try a more modern mix (yes, it's me, Steffen! ;) ). But it did not work so well, so I came up with almost the same mix as before - but with a better sound quality (IMO). I had not paid enough attention to the various issues with the vocal recording in the original version.

  Steffen

Nice song. Love the feel of this. Cool 60 - 70's vibe. I always love Marks voice. Where is that guy lately anyways? Haven't seen him here for awhile.  :( Nice music Steffen.  8)

This sounds great, a very well written and arranged song  :).You have got a very good mix here Steffen, just right for this genre, the vocals in particular stand out really well.  :)

Bobby and Dave, thank you for your kind comments! :)

Yes, Mark hasn't been around for a while. I wonder why.

Steffen,
This turned out quite well. I still remmemmber it with a synthetic singer, she had substance but no body. ;D

The woman says "No, first a Gibson, then a fender."

I've been out of the loop and didn't realize this was posted.  Great job with the new mix, Steffen!  I like the new drums.

Still dealing with ear problems, but I hope to be back soon.

Glad you like it, guys! I'm no longer satisfied with this mix though - I've a couple of great new plugins (especially for reverb), and plan to remix this song from scratch. It does not sound "organic" to me yet.

  Steffen

The instrumental section might need work IMO.  It is good for a couple of measures, with Roger's rhythm coming in, but then you kind of expect a solo instrument of some sort.

I posted a mix with it (http://www.musicianscollaboration.com/forum/index.php?topic=4893.msg119468#msg119468), but I don't think anyone was really into it, so never posted the sep. I can try to find if you still want to use it, but not a big deal. Not sure if I even still have it on comp :)

Sure, Roger, the more material there is to choose from the better. :)

I sometimes like to use just little snippets from the tracks I get, just to put some salt in the soup ...

I made the intro (hopefully) more interesting, added some spice to the bridge and mixed the song from scratch, trying to give it a nice, thick "analog" feel.

I like it MUCH better now. The only thing that still bugs me is the synthetic drums section, but you cannot always get what you want ...

I'll post the new mix in a minute. Please take a look at the first post then!

  Steffen
