I am soooo freaking happy how this turned out. Wrote and recorded this almost 10 years ago in an industrial vibe,

I decided to give it a rebirth, restructure and revised the content.

The team came through again!!

Henry *guitars*,.. you nail it everytime.  Get out of my head! ;)
John *drums*,... totally nailed the feel and lead this down a new unexpected path.  I rolled with it and this is what happened.  Awesome dude.
Neal *bass/12string*,.. you gave me tons to work with man,.. and I love that.  I am so looking forward to more in the future!
George *guitar solo*,... our first time working together on one of mine.  The first time I listened to your solo I was like,.... WTF,.. that is freaking trippy and totally unsettling,.. just how I wanted the song to be!  You rock!!
Adam *mix/master*,.. thank you so much again for fitting me in.  Always making magic with my songs.

SHAME                            words/music/keys/vocals HDA 2009

V1
Trust, longer than the day, warming as the sun
Brighter than the stars, each and every one
Feel that she's to blame, helpless to this shame
Nothing true will ever be the same, she has scorned me

Chorus
Feeling wronged ain't enough
Being strong ain't enough

V2
Lust, colder than her blood, fearless as the gun
Darker than her heart, feeding on the young
She accepts no blame, there will be no shame , as the bullet rushes through my brain
She will mourn me

Chorus 2
Feeling wronged ain't enough
Being strong ain't enough
Shame is gone, away!

Guys,

Wow - what a super performance!!

Jay - I really enjoy your "brand" of jazz/soul influenced rock music. Great lyric with great playing by everyone. Enjoyed the groove laid down by the drums and bass, then the super guitar work (great solo) and lovely little keys runs!

And the mix is excellent as well!!

Keep them coming!

Andy

I enoyed this, it came out great!

Yes, my solo was 'outside the box', a place where they increasingly seem to go!

George can often be found playing stringy things, and singing...

The pleasure was all mine and I'm thrilled the song came out how you envisioned.

The final product is amazing and I'm so happy I was a small part of it as well as getting to create along song of the best musicians here on MCS.

All the best for the future.

Great tune. Jay, it's your best vocal yet!

All the playing is very cool, everything fits nicely. The bass really carries this along nicely with the drums. Guitar solo is excellent.

Doc's guitars are terrible as usual. (Just kidding!) Doc always finds a few very tasteful guitar parts for every song he plays on.

Super work guys.

Thanks to all who have mentioned the bass track.  I'm very grateful for the kind words on my performance.  I also performed a 12-string acoustic rhythm track which is nicely mixed in.  It's felt more than heard in the final mix which it was all it was supposed to do.

Just to keep the record straight...The majority of the bass track I performed was as close to exactly what Jay (HDA) had written in his original piano idea track in his left hand part.  I just wanted to bring this up to keep my conscience clear in getting compliments for a bass line I did not create from scratch.

I was just fortunate enough to quickly realize there was nothing that could be played that would be equal let alone potentially be better.  I learned what Jay played and did my best to play that part wth just a little bit of me thrown on top.

Thanks again to everyone and especially Jay who was open to all of the variations of the bass track I submitted without pre-judging what would or wouldn't work.

Thanks all for the comments.

I have to reinforce that without the MCS team,.. my songs would never come to this level of fruition.  When  I stopped gigging live,.. I felt lost,.. until I found this place.

Can't say enough!! :) :)

Very cool song Jay....  Ian had it spot on about Summer evenings, top down.... I really love Level 42 and your songs a little in that direction... all that's missing in that respect is the old slapper Mark King... (lives just down the road from me on the Isle of Wight)....

Excellent from everyone...  very cool
