I'm glad Paulo mixed his own version of the song as most people seem to prefer that mainstream approach. I am more into "lighter" mixes with a lot of air, so I probably wouldn't be able to do a "mainstream mix" even if I wanted to.

But I'm not 100% satisfied with my own mix. The guitars still don't seem to blend well with the rest. I'll continue tweaking that mix and updating the link on my site, so the link in post #1 of this thread will always be up to date.

What a great song.

The music and lyrics really work well and for me, the vocals really are the soul of this song.....mesmerising.

Has a Kelly Joe Phelps/Eddie Vedder feel to it. Lots of character and bags of atmosphere to this.

 Steffen, this is fine songwriting. Well done to all the players, you've produced an excellent song.

(Plus I'm partial to bagpipes.    Great lyric and vocals, excellent instrumentation.

BTW: I replaced the link with the latest version of the song - which I am finally satisfied with. I removed most of the electric guitar parts and did a lot of other tweaks too. If anybody wants to listen again, comments of any kind are greatly appreciated.
