Into the Light

(v1)
No long goodnight is waiting
No rites to give me peace
An immortal, lonely pagan
I'm eternally free
I've walked long barren miles
Across Egypt's desert sand
Seen tribes fight unholy battles
Deep in the Holy Land

(v2)
I've sailed in iron warships
Felt death rain from the sky
Plunged in drowning submarines
Tasted the fear of those who died
I've been there with all of you
When you've won and lost your wars
Lived centuries of blood and pain
Seen killings by the score

Chorus
The fall of Man, the end of Time
Earthly kings felled in their prime
I was there, I saw it all
The savage writing on the wall
Then I grew so weary of the fight
I chose to soar into the light

(v3)
I know a secret haven
Where days are bright and clear
A tranquil, timeless island
Far, far away from here
A sanctuary calm and sweet
From before the world began
No traces of the shadow
That clings to mortal Man

(v4)
My simple question now is
Will you come away with me
Is there some way I can help
To set your spirit free
Will you stay close as I lead you
Far beyond all that you know
To touch the gods and sense their love
That follows where we'll go

Bridge
We can leave the killing fields behind us
Dwell where no one else will find us
We can leave the killing fields behind us
Dwell where no one else will ever find us

Instrumental

Chorus
The fall of Man, the end of Time
Earthly kings felled in their prime
I was there, I saw it all
The savage writing on the wall
Then I grew so weary of the fight
I chose to soar into the light

Outro/Tag
My simple question now is
Will you come away with me
Is there some way I can help
To set your spirit free

Mike,

Congratulations on your first completed masterpiece on here, I am sure its the beginning of many more to come!!

I feel priviledged to be part of this collaboration. So many thoughts spring to mind:

Every contribution was of super quality, finesse and well thought out - the uplifting lyric (Donna/Sam) , the soaring vocal (Steve - I know you've heard this before - but you sang it joyfully like a man really enthused), the push and pull intricate guitar work (Mike - your awesome, great arps and leads), great space drumming from Neil..I meant Jon  :D (your drum work "wrote" the bass lines!!), a rich tapestry of keyboard laden soundscape from Jay (like Mike I hear new things with every listen), and lastly the magical mixing hand of Argle......this song to my ears has soared "Into The Light".

A fairly tricky song to do on a collaboration stage but I think we pulled it off!!

Thank you once again for letting me play a part!

Cheers
Andy

I think we worked very well as a team Donna, also behind the scenes with the lyrical changes re: outro etc... I hope we will do it again very shortly. Your lyrics speak volumes to me.

Best Wishes

great fun, guys and an absolute top notch performance by this group..

totally satisfying to this prog head to be involved in something that is beyond your standard rock fare. This one pushes the boundaries, and we all worked toward the finish line with such grace and symmetry.. this one seemed to write itself. I'm honored to play a part!   ;)
