I think it's time to call this song finished.

There has been some interest in adding lyrics and vocals to it, and I have auditions for real drums too. I decided to keep this song as is, but I will probably create another song with lyrics and real drums based on parts of this original idea.

This song was originally started at the now closed OpenMusicFactory. It had a synthetic lead guitar then that was replaced (and modified) by Bobby Clohessy (Black Stratman).

The song was intentionally mixed to sound old-fashioned.

Latest mix with Jman's drums now attached!

Regards,
  Steffen

Hi Steffen,

Thanks for posting, I now have the latest final version for my collection  ;D ( the best one I think )
Do you remember how this song got its name?

I do. It was a thread titled "It's a dead horse, isn't it?" :)

This was actually never meant to be the title for this song ...

Bobby, I hope we'll do another song together soon. The first thing people say when they listen to songs of mine where you played the guitar is: "Great guitar playing!". :)

  Steffen

Ok, if you think I can add anything valuable to it - I'll be prepared.

I have been waiting for you to post that song anyway. :)

Thanks, folks!

You cannot do much wrong with Bobby playing the guitar. :)

I was told by a couple of people that the bass is too dominant, and the whole mix is too muffled. I actually wanted it that way to make it sound "old", but maybe I overdid it. So I will post an alternative mix a little later, and you can decide which one you like better.

Regards,
  Steffen

Hey Steffen and Bobby,

This is great work. Very easy on the ear - very soulful.

NIce arrangement!

Steffen, I like the 'muffled' version better for some unknown reason (maybe the new one has too sharp a snare sound with reverb?). And Bobby;s guitar is better featured in the first mix. Just my opinion though.

But you've got the 70s feeling spot on again!!

All you need is a bassplayer like Hazz or Preston or Marc or R4m to lay down some tasteful laid back bass to this.

Cheers
Andy

Yep, a real bass would be nice. I'm done with this song for the time being, but I may (no, I will) take it out of the drawer again in a couple of months and keep improving it. Most of my songs are never labelled "complete". ;)

I looked inside the seps folder of this song recently and found that I have drum seps from Jerry that I apparently had forgotten to mix in.

Here is a new version - another quick mix, but IMO still better than the original one.

There are some timing issues though. I'll see if I can fix them later.

Do you think the first lead guitar is a tiny bit too loud?

File removed. The updated version is in the first post.

Regards,
  Steffen

Stopped by for a listen. Really peaceful feeling. Excellent. :)  I'm going to listen to it again.
