Seventeen

It was a starlit night
And the moon was shining bright
all we needed  you and me
We were only seventeen

Summer days spent on the beach
all our dreams within our reach
I had you and you had me
we were only seventeen

what crazy lives young hearts lead
 seventeen

In your car,everywhere we'd go
singing loud with the radio
all we needed you and me
We were only seventeen

one night when the mood was right
you were looking into my eyes
we made a promise we didn't keep
we were only seventeen

what crazy lives young hearts lead
seventeen

We told each other
Way back then
We's be together
Till the end
But this is now
And that was then
broken hearts at seventeen
Will mend

another boy started coming around
I thought I might be missing out
so that was when I let you go
the ending of our dream

the pain was showing on your face
but very soon I was replaced
I was sorry a little too late
I was only seventeen

what crazy lives young hearts lead
 seventeen

We told each other
Way back then
We's be together
Till the end
But this is now
And that was then
broken hearts at seventeen
Can mend

Here is a comment from a songwriting forum about this song.:

" I really liked that one!  I think you guys really caught the age.  When a song takes the listener back to the time the writers talking about, if even for an instant, the writer has done his or her job.  I was there for the whole tune.  It's a catchy melody too.  Well done!"

Love hearing those songwriter comments...I take more pride in the writing of the song than the actual playing parts like guitar and what not.

Me too Vincent. I always wonder if my mind is going to the right place when writing lyrics.
And you always get the songs started with a great theme. :)

more comments, kinda silly. :D

Tricia, I love the weekly rock entries, another fantastic job on this all around.  I also compliment juice... he, behind a mixerboard, with an array of effects, is like Da Vinci behind a canvas with paint and brush.

Thanks!. Juice does not mix though, and he doesn't play in this song.

This was all Vincent .

Nice one guys.  8)  Has a bit of an 80's flavour to it. Very upbeat and straight ahead. Your just a singin' machine Tricia. Very versatile. Nice!!  :)

Solid!!!

Nice 80-ish feel - kind of a mix between Blondie and The Tourists.

Great vocal Tricia, and the instrumentation is spot on!

Another one for the ipod...

Cheers
Andy

Reminds me of when I had the first Debbie Harry solo album on tape !

Nice vibe to it ...good one gang.

CD
We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

Some comments from open mic Friday:

"Tricia, you are " rockin", cool song. Seventeen-1967- Really like this one.Works with any year the listener was Seventeen.

Oh! and sounds good too. "

"Tricia, it's no secret that I like your voice and it sounds great in this as usual.  I like the rock version of Tricia - and I agree that you could probably sing the heck out of some Heart songs.   The only thing that struck me about this is that I wished the vox were a bit more out front (louder than everything else) in places.  Great song and vocal. "
