I thought the mixers might like this page. It has a pretty nice, interactive frequency chart on it:

When you go there move your cursor over the graphic for additional information

That's cool. If you go to their website there's a good in-depth article on compression. Nice. I need to read all that. It looks really good.  8)

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

A soundman friend I used to tour with made a neat little gadget for us while traveling (I did monitors touring with him for a while, he did FOH).  It was a little blue box that had a small speaker, one button, and one LED display.  You pressed the button, it output 5 seconds of a random frequency (one of the middle 18 or so frequencies in a 31 band EQ, think it's range was around 160hz-12k or so).  You pressed the button the second time and it showed the freq it played on the display.  Was the best sound geek toy ever.  Not sure whatever happened to it :(

We got pretty good at guessing frequencies quite quickly!  Besides while you're driving for 5 hours at a time it gave us something fun and geeky to do! :)
