I wonder if the ears on the site would take a listen to this and tell me what you hear - good or bad.

Thanks!

This is very nice, your voices are well matched.  It might be a little long though.

Very lovely.

Cary, sounding very nice!

Heard a slight guitar string squeak right at the beginning of the song. :04 seconds in.

Would like to hear a little more panning between the two lead vocals.

Female vocalist is "working" a little at the very low end of her range. But if you hadn't asked for comments I probably wouldn't have noticed it much.

Nice build!

Just when I was expecting harmony it came in... nice!

Wasn't expecting the single harmony voice at the end of the song. How does it sound when all the harmony vocals are there? Or maybe overlap the two harmony vocals?

Really nice song and balance...all the eq's sound great this end.   The female singer is good, I like her vocals...not sure I like the way the male vocal cuts across her at the start, did you try having it a little more distant for those couple of lines, or thin it out maybe ...more like the female vocal effect you have at the end of the track ?

Also sounds very W-I-D-E ..almost too wide, a bit like I'm listening on headphones ( but I wasn't ) and have two distinct sides going on.  Be interested how you got it to sound so wide ?

So I'd say really good overall...but a bit too wide for me if I had to nitpick.

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

I'd say what you're hearing so wide is the two doubled acoustics panned R & L.  I didn't do any mid/side processing and generally try to stay away from that sort of thing, unless extreme mix rescue is needed.  lol.  The overheads are fairly loud in this mix and I know they generally have a wide stereo field the way I place the mics.
Thanks!

Thanks so much for the comments Paul!
I'm mainly the engineer on this - there is a production team as well as the artist driving the production of the song.  I'll look at that finger squeek.  :)  (If only you would have heard the raw track)  ;)

Cary -

I really like this mix. Teckie junk:

I love the build. I would maybe ride the female a little more there. It's a great arrangement but I can't hear what she is singing.
I would like a little more solid low end (but I am not qualified to judge that  with certainty. it may be there)

Overall - You floor me with the balance and tone. Nice production too! Just listened in the cans.

Nevermind...sounds great!

Cary,

It tickled my ears though my near field monitors.

I'm down with it as it's mixed.  :)

I liked it a lot just like it is.  I guess I disagree with CD on this listen, I thought the wide spectrum on the guitars really set off the vocals,  I liked the male vocal coming in over the female vocals.

My only change would be to bring the vocals out a little more as the build progresses so by the end of the song, the vocals are still 60% of the mix.  I think they get a little overwhelmed there towards the end by the instruments.

Nice tune, though, and great arrangement and production on the song.
