.wma to mp3?

I want to convert a .wma audio file to an mp3 so I can burn it to a cd. Can anyone tell me what I could use (or do) to do this? Thanks! I'm on a mac.

Yeah, Switch is good, that's what I use on my Mac for WMA to MP3 conversions.

You don't want to be converting Wma's to MP3's to put on a CD.

They are both 'lossy' formats...in other words each time you make a conversion to one of these formats a whole bunch of information gets thrown away and you lose sound quality.  Now doing it once is OK....you can still have a reasonable sounding CD......but to then take that file that has already had much of it's information discarded and then convert it to another lossy format (MP3)...i.e discarding yet more audio quality from a song that's already had alot of it discarded previously will give you a horrible sounding file.

You should be able to make a CD direct from the Wma...most Cd burning programs will do it...you can do it from media player...or Nero etc.....but don't transcode it again if you want decent quality.

Good advice, but there's not burning software I know of that will do this on a Mac.

Though, Switch will convert from WMA to AIFF I think, or at least WAV, then you can stick 'em in iTunes, and burn the CD.

At least then your converting to a non-lossy format which will be much better.

Quality wise you shouldn't be in wma to start with.

I burn mp3s to cd because I have a boom box that plays mp3 cds and you can get 65,000 songs on one cd.

As long as we're on the topic.....

I don't have direct WMA to MP3 software.   I convert the WMA to WAV first in one software, and then use a second software to go from WAV to MP3.  Am I going to get the same quality loss that you get by converting directly?
