"Hard" ( Steve Sledge / Robert de Priest )

Intro:

Verse 1:
You're runnin' round.
All over town,
And everybody
Knew it, Knew it.
Except for me.
I'm gonna leave
Don't think I won't
Do it, Do it.
But down inside
I can't hide.
Part of me
Wants you, wants you.
I guess it shows.
You let me know
You won't let go.
You're gonna make it..

Chorus 1:
Hard.
You look at me
Hard.
You're kissing me
Hard.
You're touching me
Hard.
And suddenly
Hard.

Verse 2:
My friends all said
I've lost my head.
A girl like that will
Never, never
Settle down.
She'll run around.
I couldn't trust you
Ever, ever.
But they don't see
That part of me
Even now
Wants you, wants you.
You see it though.
You let me know
You won't let go.
You're gonna make it..

Chorus 2:
Hard.
You look at me
Hard.
You're kissing me
Hard.
You're touching me
Hard.
And suddenly
Hard.

Chorus 3:
Hard.
You look at me
Hard.
You're kissing me
Hard.
You're touching me
Hard.
And suddenly
Hard.

if anybody who thinks he can improve the song with his vocals is welcome to give it a try.  :) :)
Just comment it here, and I'll make a vocal-less track.
Cheers,
Steve Sledge

Steve I gave this a listen....

I like the music. The Drums on Demand (I think) track sounds good. Could use a little more bite. All the instruments sound good. I get the feeling they should be more in your face. Might be the overall compression or the soundclick mp3 conversion.

The vocals need some attitude. They are done well, but I get the feeling like they were sung at midnight with the kids sleeping and had to be held back.

The lyrics are ambiguous as suggestive lyrics should be.

Nice job!

Steve, Sounds pretty good man. I would agree with Nick that the vocals seem held back some. They work but could be even more hard edged. The lead is killer.  8) Ditto on the instrumentation being more up front. Bigger bass as well? Just nitpicks. It's also pretty fine the way it is.

Speaking of ZZ I've been working on a few tunes myself inspired by ZZ Top. I've really been listening to 'Mescalero' quite a bit. Killer album !!  8)  Those boys don't get enough credit. They have made so many great songs and the guitar playing is pretty hot. Some major licks have been written.  :o

When ya gonna come over here and jam some time?  :)

Cool Music Steve! I agree with Nick, this genre could use more up front music, almost walking on the vox. Ya might want to redo the vox when you get really mad and at the end of your rope!! Scream and growl.  ;D  Nice Job! You captured the guitar feel nicely! Now crank it.  8)

Didn't notice the lyrics being explicit. Of course I'm kind of a Duh! ::)

Cool to see you all back again , guys !!!  :-) :-)

@NickT: Thanks ! You said it very friendly that I held back my vocals just like I don't wanna disturb my family, :-) Seems you have children by yourself and are a father too :-)
Well, it is so, that I'm more singin clean and the hardrock vocal isnt my strong genre.

@studioplayer: also big thanks for listining and your comments. Yeah, ZZ-Top are very much underrated and Mescalero is one of my favourite ZZ albums ever. The loudest !! And the grungiest !!

@R4M: Thanks a lot  !!  you mean more upfront music means guitars louder and vocals a bit lower in volume ? the lyrics are not sooo explicit, you're right. Just a bit because of the word "hard" ....LOL

@guitargeorge : Hi George. Yeah, every now and then I make a hardrock tune, and where's a better place in the world to show it here on NickT's site ?

Sorry I'm not collaborating/jamming  so much these days, but on this song I could need a better vocalist. Maybe here's someone ? Wasn't Ootle from Fjam here sometimes ?
Best regards to you !!

Cheers, Steve

Steve,

Yeah, Ootle hangs here. He would be a good voice for this.
