AJ:

Very nice, reminds me of James Taylor.  You should post the lyrics as well.

AJ - Tubes sent this to me:

Quote
What a great Job A.J did in mixing this tune. Apart from a little hiss in the track. Track noise (hiss) that I  would have taken out of every track the mix is bright and the vocals are heard well and they stand out in the mix. I got to say J man played some fantastic drums in that track. Apart from my bass the rythm section is tight and on the money. I can hear the rough edges  near the start have been imporved in the final mix. Great vocals from A.J. That's one  talented dude. It's sort of 70 & 80 influenced, with a James Taylor feel. It's clean and a beauiful tune. Everyone performed very well.

Congrats

Tubes

P.S.

Keep the great music coming folks..

This song reminds me of James Taylor also... Very enjoyable to listen to and to participate on. The feeling I always come away with on that James Taylor type song is a good, kind of uplifting feeling, even when the subject is a bluesy kinda thing, somehow the end result is uplifting.... This song has that. Great song, Great job by AJ, Aidan, jaaman, .... And Tubes your bass was killer too... J

Wasn't happy with the original mix so I re-did it. Hope this one's better.

This one sounds much better AJ  :)

The other mix was muddy...this one is much clearer....There is some audible hiss on the intro, I don't mind hiss myself but I know it bothers others.  I  think the vocal is slightly thin, maybe just because there's more space in the mix now for it to fill than before.  Also the organ part could do with some movement..do you have  a leslie simulator ?

I can enjoy it much more now you've remixed it....nice one.

Hey Mark,

What do you use to deal with the hiss? I know I can use EQ but then I lose the sharpness.

Depends where it's from.....

The best way is to make sure there isn't any when you're recording , or if there is, that those parts aren't exposed in the mix on their own so it gets masked.

Also make sure that you trim your audio tracks , so you don't get a load of silent tracks all adding a little hiss, just trim them so they only start when needed.

If it's too late for that you can use a gate only open when the signal is present.....and if that fails then you may have to resort to some audio restoration tools like a de-hisser ( if you have or can get one ) though this may have a slight impact on the sound. I guess it's finding the balance.
