While no replacement for the real thing, drum machines/plug-ins etc. can help the song writing process.

I hear some pretty nice drums here, just wondering what people are using.

I mainly use acid loops, but I feel like I'm in a rut sometimes because I use my favorite patterns over and over.

Some new ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Tac,

I use Drums on Demand. I have all the volumes.

I also use EzDrummer. Just last week I purchased Three midi loop sets from Groove Monkey.

I haven't used them yet, but they sound pretty nice. All loops are played, not programmed.

I was looking at the Jamstix site from the plugin forum,

Seems like a plugin that's free after you give them $99.

Have to see if people think it's worth it...

I down loaded the demo and wasn't to impressed.

In all fairness I did not spend alot time on it, so maybe it's a learning curve thing.

I know Bassplayer tried it and seemed to like .

If anyone is interested I suppose I can post some midi files of generic beats.

I like drums on demand (thanks Nick!)

I would like to have some additional exotic/afro/latin beats loops tho.

If the drummers could post more loop-able beats, I have a feeling the number of new song ideas would increase dramatically. Well, I know I'm good for 2-3 song ideas per drum track. I suspect I'm not alone. ;)

I'll get you some as soon as you post your bass loops ;D ;D

Kidding of course.

I'll post some exotic/afro/latin beats this weekend. Just give me an idea of tempo you would like.

hehehe...the bass loops are on my "To Do" list, promise ;) I'll probably have to retrack them, cuz my files are scattered all over the place.

Tempos...uhm..no idea. I do some research into it and will let you know.

Sorry for jackin the thread....

That's OK.

The choice between midi and loops, that is the question.

I used to work with midi patterns with cakewalk and the drummer thing that came with it...can't remember what it was called.

I bought a cd on ebay of  ###thousand midi loops but it was such a mess it gave me a headache.

Some useful generic straight ahead beats would be good.

Generic beats thread...mmm...

MCS midi beats CD now on sale!

After all this time, I'm still not too hip to midi, but I'm grabbing the file anyway. Thanks! :)

Do you have any rendered loops available? Thats more my speed.

MC should consider developing a "Grab Bag" Forum. A place for all sorts of clips, loops and riffs. Something good might come of those throw-backs and rejected bits. Besides, sometimes it just fun to clown around instead of toiling over a particular goal.

Anyway............................

Ken:

Can you do or program Latin Jazz Beats? Timbales, shakers and shit? Something up tempo so maybe I can get my chick to dance on cam for us ;)

I second that!

Hey Gang,

I am all for a grab bag of riff's and beats. But I have to ask that thay are royalty free, non copyrighted material.

If you make them or find free libraries on the web, you can post them.

Thanks!

Cool with me Nick.

Might be worth a survey before you initiate it. Hard to say who'd take advantage of something like that.
