It was great to finish this collaboration!! It took about 12 years....but the wait was worth it. Stellar performances from everyone. Special shout out to Mike for the Alex L like guitars and Argle for a fantastic mix.

Walter has aged well, just needs a walking stick to get about.

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty (c) words and music Andy Gupta/Steve McAndrew 2008,2012,2021
(based on James Thurber's short story)

bpm=132

A deadly game of espionage during the last war
What's a hero like you doing getting noised up in your car
Dragging on a cigarette you view the world through narrowed eyes
Shuffling along with a lowered head as you mumble out replies

Brilliant surgeon in the news brings back a hopeless case
If they knew who you really were they would not engage your face
Master of many practices and so good with new machines
Today you're sending in your car to get a change of wheel

Is this your life
Which ones your life
Living the secret life of Walter Mitty

DA hands the automatic as you take the witness stand
Staring down at a shopping list that's appeared within your hand
Sensation as a woman screams then she's right there in your arms
You're shaken awake, it's time to go, as the wife gets in the car

Gunning engines of the hydroplane through 40 miles of hell
A touch of fog, you pull aside, as the mist it casts it's spell
You grin at death so mockingly,  while whistling through your teeth
Dying slowly by degrees, this office space  brings only grief

Is this your life
Which ones your life
Living the secret life of Walter Mitty

Credits:
Steve McAndrew: Vocals, part-lyric
Mike Woodford: All guitars

Well done guys, this might be a record for the longest collab from start-to-end. Very Rush, which can't be a bad thing.

George can often be found playing stringy things, and singing...

Hello George,

Thanks for the kind comment.

Yes quite "Rush" like, though this was no "rush" job obviously har har.

Andy, The Secret to the success of this song was persuading you to free up the space for the guitars as well as everyone's stellar performances, which breathed new Life into it.

It's now one of my favourite songs that you have written, even if it has been around longer than Smoke on the Walter.

I think you would adMitty that the end result was well worth the wait.

Argles frequency sculpturing is the icing on the cake.

Cool song, cool collab, cool
My dad.. "Turn that Banjo down!!"

Hi Mike,

:) :) Haha loved the word play!!

Yes, I freely adMitty  that you were right about the need to provide space for the guitars. Good lesson that.

Your guitars are an integral part of the cool sound.

Come hell or high Walter, we had to finish this tune, and by gum, we did.

Andy

WOW  this is so 8)

I like that it has taken so long.  8)

This is sooo Rush  (Andy are you not any part the Rush band? Or apart of any professional band?)

Tony Wolsey on drums is phenomenal !!!

My hat is tipped to Adam Kirby. Excellent mix.

Hi Steve,
Hope you have recovered fully.  Did you get your 2nd shot?

Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated!!

Yes, it look quite the while, but the end result was worth it.  Sometimes we give up on collaborations,  but  I  like tying up loose ends!!.

The comparison to Geddy Lee is flattering, but I am not, or have ever been in  a Rush tribute band :).

But, Mike (SnowdogUK) has, I believe the band was called "Virtually Rush".
Any Rush-like influence in the song is mainly due to him, he nails that guitar sound everytime.

Yes, let's do a song or three again. I am short of inspiration re writing new music, hopefully the muse will return.

Cheers
Andy
