Acquisition of cakewalk .....

Initial thoughts are....NOT happy.

Gibson couldn't finance the bakers.
They pulled the plug Right before I was going to get Sonar Platinum.

BandLab has deep pockets. I think it will be a good thing. Keeping the doors shut would have sucked!

Makes me feel a little better.

I wonder if they will keep the rolling  update feature. I liked that and I liked the fact that you could opt out after so long.

As you said in the "shout out" part of the home page, its all part of the ongoing evoulution of cakewalk.

The thing is I'm not sure what they actually bought, it said they bought ALL the intellectual property but only 'some' of the other assets, so it's hard to say what that actually is.  Not sure if they will be releasing new versions of Sonar or they will be rolling in some of the technology into their online sort of DAW thing ... only time will tell.

I just read an update. I will have to look it up. But I think they are going to at least put the flagship products out.

Just downloaded it for free! I have a lot to learn. I have so much time invested in n_track.

For free this is a bargain and it will be time invested well. I'm just miffed at the amount of money I have now wasted on this if I'd known it was eventually going to be free.

It's been working pretty great for me. Been using Cakewalk since the DOS days!

I also bought a Reaper License.

And I bought MixBus V5 32C.

Love all three.
