It's been over a year since we lost Mick to illness....so we decided to cover one of his best tunes as a tribute.

Frank was brilliant on guitars with a scalding hot solo and a fantastic mix.

George put in a high quality vocal performance.

Erik did his best Mitch Mitchell impression.

Paul's lyric is as cool as ever.

One Way Brain Rush Galaxy Ride (Mick Lovering/Paul Dempsey)

(v1)
Follow the colors
They'll twist and turn
Follow my lead
You're going to learn
Hold on real tight
Reach for the stars
Don't you hear them
The distant guitars

(chorus)
We're going on a
One way brain rush
Galaxy ride
Don't let go
Or we'll collide
Let me be your guide
On a one way brain rush
Galaxy ride

(v2)
It's all upside down
The ceilings the floor
Light keeps bending
Slipping out the door
The center is so calm
Lay back and relax
Let the shapes run free
Like melting wax

(chorus)
(bridge)
Open your mind and you're going to find
A safe place to hide
The sights and sounds just ups no downs
Hey, you decide

SOLO
Chorus

Personnel:
Mick Lovering: Original composition
Paul Dempsey: Lyrics
Frank Zax: Guitars, mix/master
George Williams: Vocals
Andy Gupta: Bass
Erik Koskas: Drums

Great tribute guys, we did some great songs with Mick.  He was very talented and will be missed.

This was a quick and fun one as I recall.

I really enjoyed recording this a second time.

I posted it on another site which I frequent ("GuitarChaos") and got some lovely feedback:

***********************

That's definitely something to be proud of. A total 60's vibe for sure. Sounds like it could be the soundtrack for the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I sure did enjoy it!

***********************

Superb song George, great work by you and your virtual band :) very 60s sounding with a nice Hendrix vibe. And of course very well sung, really enjoyed this!

***********************

Well done. Really liked the structure of the song, you put together a great track very professional playing and sound.

***********************

George this is fantastic!!! Awesome
I vote we make this the song of the month!!! Cool What about it? Bonk
If you send me the MP3 for this I can upload it. Cheers

***********************

Oh wow this is the best bit of music I've heard lately, love everything about it, vocals, guitars, lyrics and even the title. I put this more early-mid 70's it we are dating it here. Fan-freakingtastic George, can't heap enough hyperbole upon this. You guys created a monster here this would give Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo a run for shear coolness and funkyness.

The reviews made good reading George! Great stuff.

However, I think you should add Mick to the credits, after all it was his original song which was super to begin with.

Hey George,

Thanks for posting the song on Guitar Chaos!  It's always great to read such nice comments.   :)

I do however, agree with Andy regarding a songwriting credit to Mick.  I also think that Andy should be listed as having played the bass (as well as Erik on drums).

Great tribute to a great guitarist from a great band. Did I mention the word great?

Mick would be very proud if he could hear this.
Always looking for opportunities to mix your songs. Feel free to ask!
