Ok so,. wrote this in 2011 for my daughter Kalan... took me till now to finish it up with all instrumentation.  I want to thank all the guys that helped me out in the beginning phases of this.  I ended up retracking to a new tempo and Zax (Frank) helped me finish it up with some stellar guitars.  Hope you enjoy.  This is one of my personal favorites!

Zax (Frank): All Guitars
HDA (Jay): Instrumentation, Vocals, Mix

Back Again                                                        Jay Lamothe 2011

V1
He stares at the sky as it mirrors her eyes
The reflection of things she can't see
And in that moment of chance he reminds her to dance
To the songs that she was and could be

CH1
If she goes astray, he knows she'll come back again
When she goes astray, he knows she'll comes back again

V2
The night closes in and she's restless again
With fears of tomorrow's to come
He's tells her baby don't cry it will soon pass you by
With much better days yet undone

CH2
If she goes astray, he knows she'll come back again
When she goes astray, he knows she'll comes back again

BRIDGE1
"Don't let those feelings that bind make your senses go blind
You're stronger then you've ever known
Don't let the rains of the day wash your spirit away
You'll be fine,             in your time."

SOLO

BRIDGE2
"Don't let those feelings that bind make your senses go blind
You're stronger then you've ever known
Don't let the rains of the day wash your spirit away
You'll be fine,             in your time."

V3
Now she's grown up so tall and in spite of it all
He remembers those little girl tears
Yet he can, stand back in pride cause he knows deep inside
She's exceptional beyond all those years

CH3
If she goes astray, he knows she'll come back again
When she goes astray, he knows she'll comes back again
If she goes astray, he knows she'll come back again
When she goes astray, he knows she'll comes back again

As a father of 2 daughters as well I sit here with tears in my eyes...
Great and beautiful song, outstanding as usual, Jay, with exceptional great guitars from Frank.

Jay... Thanks for letting me take part!!  It's a great song, and I'm not afraid to say that I dad goose bumps the first time I heard it.  I love the mix as well!   8)

Thank you Henry.   It's a very emotional song for me also...  And your response validates the emotion I was trying to convey.

Frank..  Without question I was certain your participation would be stellar.   You didn't disappoint.  I hope you are OK with how I mixed your tracks and took some liberty with the reverse dive bomb at the beginning of the solo.   Fantastic tracks to work with tonally and melodically .

  • Professionalism is an attitude
Exceptional songwriting, Jay and Zax.

Quality song with a lot of thought gone to the production......very slick. I was expecting some 'Jay backing vox' and this didn't disappoint.

Always a pleasure, Jay

Enjoyed the listen.

Fantastic Jay! This song reminded me of those awesome harmonies from "Shame".

I still haven't figured out how they "discovered" Justin Bieber, but somehow overlooked our man Jay!
Damn it Jim! I'm a WRITER - not a Doctor!!

Awe..  More of my mcs buds stopped in.   Thanks so much for the listen guys.   Freaking Eagles,  Journey,  Beatles and CSNY imprinted my harmony addiction.   Guess there are worse things to be addicted to.  ;D

Hey Jay,

I do remember this tune from some time back, and I am thrilled to hear the final result.
A great write, performance and production!!

I love the rhythmic flow of the song and the lovely lyric.

Beautiful, a classic, but then I never expected anything less ).

Everything is expertly played, sung, arrange and mixed...hats off  ;)

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten
