WAFFLE ALERT

A year ago, while skyping with Al, a collaborator in Scotland, we got talking about the old sci-fi TV series 'Babylon 5'. I mentioned I'd written a love lyric about Ambassador Kosh (Kosh #1, not Kosh #2) during a songwriting challenge. Al asked to hear it, so I sent him the a cappella melody, complete with awful Gverb, faulty timing, inconsistent notes, and breaking voice.  :P Unbeknown to me, he began to put music to it. He also melodyned the heck out of the vocals to make them half-way palatable.

Here's the finished product. It's not a 'serious track' of course (though Al did the best he could with the meagre source material ;) ) - it's simply a bit of fun, and Al got to fine-tune his melodyning skills.

If any of you are/were fans of Babylon 5, I hope you get a kick out of the tune. :)
The lyric is written from the perspective of Lyta Alexander, the telepath who was drawn to Kosh #1.

Another song emerged from that TV series as well.
'Soulhunter', with Billy, Andy, and David.

Ambassador Kosh, I Love You

V1
I love a man of mystery
Undocumented history
And when it comes to intrigue
You’re the best

V2
I know you’ve seen me lurking
Instead of busy working
But now you’ve put my passion
To the test

Chorus
Ambassador Kosh, I love you
Although it’s from a distance
And if you’d turn your lens my way
I’d offer no resistance
But most of all I want to say
My Gosh!
You’re the Vorlon of my dreams
Ambassador Kosh

V3
The cryptic truths you utter
Leave little room for clutter
The nonsense many people
Hold as thought

V4
I’d like a brief encounter
So if you want to saunter
Outside your suit you’ll see what
I have brought

Chorus
Ambassador Kosh, I love you
Although it’s from a distance
And if you’d turn your lens my way
I’d offer no resistance
But most of all I want to say
My Gosh!
You’re the Vorlon of my dreams
Ambassador Kosh

 Bridge
I’ve been trying to find meaning
For so long
And now I’m listening to the music
Not the song
But I need the words you bring to me
I want your ship to sing to me

Chorus
Ambassador Kosh, I love you
Although it’s from a distance
And if you’d turn your lens my way
I’d offer no resistance
But most of all I want to say
My Gosh!
You’re the Vorlon of my dreams
Ambassador Kosh

That was fun! :)

Donna that's a pretty melody, and Al's muscial arrangement fits like a glove. Very nice! It deserves a better sound, for sure.

  • Professionalism is an attitude
WHAT!!! ;D ;D ;D

It just made me think of a sort of "Glee" version of Babylon 5 with characters breaking out in song (and possibly choreography from the "sheep squeezers of Splaitican 5" in the background.) Actually, it's not that bad. There's a voice in there, Donna.

Al's music treatment is spot on.

I never fully understood that vorlon space thing. It seems no one ever went there and if they did, they never got out to tell the tale.

Thanks for a good chuckle!

Nice :-) You sing quite good, Donna.

Drums is Toontrack stuff, I believe, it sounds just like it.

The music, remnds of the old 007 movies  ;D

Hi Donna,

A very good vocal effort, and like the others I do believe you should start singing more!

The music is quite unexpected given the lyrical theme, but enjoyable none the less!

You have a nice vocal timbre btw.

hah, this is fun  ;D

Your voice has a nice tone, I think with a bit of practice and some better recording technique you could hold your own against most singers here !

I never watched B5...was more of a DS9 guy
