I must start by thanking Doc for all his help & tutoring to get this song to the finished forum.
My plan was to make a few adjustments from my last mix before posting it here but as i was making those adjustments it was getting worse (in my opinion) and not better so i decided to go with my last mix from project studio A.
I have also included a mix from Doc as he did some really cool production of his own adding some other instrumentation & some different mixing ideas.

Marcel Hoeke - drums
Mick Lovering - bass
Henry Mittnacht - mix, programming, production, backing vox (also chorus melody help)
Mark Shrider - music, lyrics, lead & backing vox, guitar, programming, production & mix

Stay With Me Tonight

(intro lead)

(verse1)

every night i see you in my dreams
we are getting closer than it may seem
i can see you in the distance, yeah
but i feel your resistance now

(chorus)

hold me close; hold me tight
take me home tonight
come with me; close your eyes
stay with me tonight

(verse2)

in the morning it all fades away
and i can't recall the words i heard you say
was it just my imagination, yeah
i can't break this fascination now

(chorus)

(lead break)

(chorus)

(chorus)

(outro lead)
rock-n-roll ain't pretty --- that's why they picked us to play it.

Nice ambience, folks... Nice groove.
Live the best you can 'cause you're gonna be dead for a long time.

Mark, it was a pleasure and fun working with you on that song :).
I think we both learned a lot about mixing, writing and arrangeing!

Nice song.

I get a better impression of Mick's bass from Doc's mix

CD
We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

thanks Doc.
your help on this is immeasurable.

and thanks CD for the listen.
with Doc's tutoring i did make some leaps and bounds.
i tried to make a few tweaks but found myself destroying what i already felt pretty good about.
some more experience and applying info I've learned recently should lead to better mixes.

thanks...

Mark

this is right in my wheel-house.
hopefully the '80s power-ballad feel came through.

Cool work, I got a Pink Floyd vibe when the song started...and I really like the sound of the toms for instance. Just too bad the Henry mix is 96 kbps!!! Sounds like the mix deserves a better final render, at least 192 kbps!

thanks LMK.
on my mix i didn't really do much to the toms.
Marcel has a big full sound that doesn't need much.

Hey Mark,

A cool 80s style rocker!! Nice guitar work too. I liked both mixes, maybe Doc's has a slighter edge....just personal taste though.

Well done all of you.

Andy

Yeah very full tom sound.

Any explanation for the mix being 96 kbps?? That's such a shame, after everything that probably went into mixing these intruments, making them sound their best...and then make that work and care redundant with a 96 kbps converstion at the end of the process for the public presentation...

Your work deserves better than that!

thanks Andy.
yeah Doc's has a little crisper cleaner sound than mine.
but i feel pretty good from where i started.
I'm getting better.
for some reason i tend to mix things so they sound big and bombastic to a degree and i miss some of the dynamics that would make it a little crisper and cleaner.
but...I'll get there.

thanks again...
