Its 5AM and the suns still rising
Im sitting at work earning my way
I'm wondering where my dreams have disappeared to
And for me its just another working day

Falling through

I used to think a lot about my music
And how it would be if my songs became well known
But its to late now for me to reach that star
Its just another chance, that I've blown

By falling through
Falling through my dreams
falling through
Falling through my schemes

I've learned to live with all my shortcomings
With the many dreams and plans that seem to fail
But without you by my side I wouldnt be here today
I wish I could help you but I fail

To stop you falling through

Your'e everything to me
But I dont tell you quite enough
About the way you make me feel when you smile
Youve always helped me through
All the problems on the way
But I just cant seem to find
The words to say

Except I love you and I allways will
And if theres one thing I can give you that I think you need
Its the confidence to fight another day
And I will hold you tight forever
And I hope this way

I'll stop you falling through
Falling through without me
Falling through
Dont fall on through
Dont fall on through alone
Im with you all the way
Dont fall on through
Jimbo

Dude, that's a fabulous song mate! I wouldn't change it in any way, except for maybe re-record it on a more quality set up. Well done! :)

Mick.
Very funny Spok ... now beam down my trousers.

Hi Mick,

I might have lost my first reply in the ether so I thought I'd better do another!!!!
Anyway, thanks a lot for your comments, it means a lot to me when seasoned "pros" like you give such positive feedback :) I'm still abit wary about singing on my tracks but, after help from you and other members here, I think I have mastered the mastering bit so my confidence is high!!
I'd love to spend some time in a pro studio, I did a couple of tracks many, many years ago (I was 18!!) at Pye studios in London but, because I sort of gave up music, it never went any further :'(
Anyway, I quite like recording in our spare bedroom................NOT!! There isnt enough room to swing a cat but at least the acoustics are good ;D ;D ;D

Cheers mate,

Jimbo

The best songs come straight out of our lives  ;)

IMHO, this one is a real treasure, and that, "Falling Through", line...brilliant!

Post the lyric up top. They're worth reading too.

Your vocal sounds absolutely perfect...Great song!

Cheers, and i hope there are many more "Jimbo" tunes to come  8) 8)

Great song Jimbo! This has all the tenderness and quality of a Dan Fogelberg Ballad. :)
It really is very nice, and will ALWAYS mean so much more to you and your wife - which is as it should be. 8)
Damn it Jim! I'm a WRITER - not a Doctor!!

i know this is an old tune but i've been going thru the site listening to some older stuff and i love this song.
you get a sense of sadness and disappointment but there's also a little happy and content as well.
the emotion just spills out of this.
from the intimate sound and feel to the honesty coming from the vocals.
oh and some pretty good guitar playing as well.
nicely done.
rock-n-roll ain't pretty --- that's why they picked us to play it.

Hi rightonthemark,

Firstly, many thanks for your kind words on Falling Through.

It seems like an age since I put the track together and a lot of things have happened to me in the interim period which I wont bore you with.

One thing this track did encourage me to do was to work on both my recording techniques as well as getting a decent electric guitar to use ;)

I have also started working with my old band mates, from 40 years ago, and we have recorded several tracks (originals and covers) and put them up on Soundcloud. I am using Cubase Pro 8 and there is a programme within the DAW called VST connect which allows the other band members to record remotely. I live in the home counties, my brother (drums) live 200 miles away in Yorkshire, Paul (vocalist) lives about 150 miles away in Kent, and Pete (bass player) lives in Ireland.
For those of you that don't know the VST connect system it is absolutely brilliant for collabs as the engineer (me) can really direct the other performers for the songs we are doing!!

For those that are interested, if you search Soundcloud for Stanhope Road (our band name) you can hear some of our newer stuff.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen and thanks for the words of encouragement.....onwards and upwards!!!

Jimbo

Hi again,

Yeah, VST Connect is pretty amazing and it doesn't need both parties to have the full Cubase Pro 8 package as there is a free download for the performer side.

I really believe it could open up collabs and make the track additions more like working in a studio with a producer.

I suppose it depends on Cubase Pro 8 becoming a more favoured DAW platform but, as it stands, there could be mileage in offering the VST connect system to non Cubase users by acting as the recording studio.

All that would be needed is the original separated stems, then off you go!!

Steinberg is always ahead... Expensive but great.

Updated to Cubase 8 a few weeks ago... Damn, that's a lot of new stuff compared to the previous versions.

Live the best you can 'cause you're gonna be dead for a long time.
