Presonus has released a completely free version of their Studio One DAW. If you aren't ready for all of the advanced features of their pay-for software then this is a little beauty for you. This is NOT a demo and will not time out!

I was checking Studio One out recently. It actually looks pretty good.  The free version probably has enough in it to do some good recording.

It looks pretty good for basic stuff I think. You can't add in your own VST/VSTi's but it comes with the basic stuff anyway. Thought it might be handy for anyone just starting with recording. The Pro version is only $299 as well. Not bad

For what it's worth, I've been using Studio One Pro for a while now (Xmas present from the world's best son).
I'm pretty much lost when it comes to all things digital and the end result may sound a bit dodgy because I'm still llearning how to mix BUT I find it a breeze to use.
Practically everything is drag and drop, it's handled every vst/vsti I've loaded into it and upgrades are free.
If I can use it, IMO anybody can.

Anyone is using Studio One?

I'm a bit tired of paying a lot each time I update my DAW... Steinberg is pushing it to the limits and I'm not in the mood for paying more updating Nuendo than I can pay for a full version of Studio One wich can even import my Nuendo projects.

i bought studio one artist last year when it was on sale for five dollars and found i didn't really like it.

i would recommend REAPER.

switching from Sonar was a pretty smooth transition for me.

Hi Mark... I know that reaper e nice but from what I heard is not good on the midi side and I need a good sequencer to drive my midi synths and drum machines.

it's free to try for 60 days. the demo is fully functional and never times out. it just has a nag screen to remind you to purchase. and then an amateur license is just $60 while a commercial license is $225. note: that's all of them are the same version. updates are free up thru a couple of versions. plus the online support is fantastic. it really would be worth a try to see if its midi capabilities are adequate for your needs.
also i've been hearing some buzz about version 5 coming out & that it will have  some midi improvements.

I downloaded and isntalled Reaper but, ended up purchasing Cubase, again... I was with an old version of Nuendo but, this new version of cubase has a lot more than that old Nuendo...

... Man, it's a long learning curve and I've been with Steinberg Platforms since the 80's when it was only MIDI... It's coming from Germany, tomorrow or so, it will be here.
