Doc, cool I'm happy to hear that, and I agree  :)

Steffen, I'm not a big fan of the ELO either. But Jeff Lynne improved album by album as a producer, by the time "Face The Music" came out he was getting pretty good I think and their signature sound started developing.

My track is more inspired, productionwise, by the later stuff he did...."Balance of power", "cloud 9", the Willburies, and maybe most of all "Into the great wide open". I always loved that one.

Who say's I'm no ELO fan? :)

I love their stuff. I have most of their albums, and that music always takes me back to my childhood.

A couple of years ago I was sitting in my car with a friend of mine, when a song was being played on the radio. We both did not know the song, but we both sad simultaneously after just a couple of seconds: "That must be Jeff Lynne". And it was. :)

It was from a new ELO album. Not a good album, if you want my opinion, but it still had that signature sound you mentioned.

It's the same with the Bee Gees - it does not matter if they sing themselves or just write the music (wrote I should say), it's always clear from the beginning that they were the producers. Or Mike Batt or Alan Parsons. They all have that unique sound and/or style.

I don't hear such uniqueness anymore nowadays.

Regards,
  Steffen

Haha, sorry Steffen, it was a typo...I missed the word "EARLY"!!! I meant to say "I'm not a big fan of the EARLY ELO either"   ;D Especially not the production, but it got gradually better with each album.

And in general, like Randy Newman said "I love that E.L.O!"

Hi LMK,

I'd love to listen to a JL/GH inspired song, why not upload an mp3 (on the first post) so that I can download that while at work :)

Hi LMK,

What a great little slice of music. Absolutely love it. It does sound like a latter day Geroge Harrison song produced by Jeff Lynne.

All the performances are top class, as is the vocal. The mix/production is very pro sounding too.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much Andy, glad you enjoyed it  :). It's nice when the writing and recording of a song is as painless as this one was, it doesn't always happen that way for me. The lyrical collaboration with Donna was a cool and smooth process, she is a pro.
