Very Happy to see this one back on here  ^-^ I've always had a soft spot for this song. It was actually THE very first original composition that I collaborated on when I joined this great site. And I have never looked back since  :D

This is a much better mix. In comparison to the other mix which sounded muddy, this one is very clear.
I love the Bass  :)

The drums still sound too low in the mix though. It sounds like that you have actually lifted the drums up a little in volume in this mix, but imo they still sound to low (especially the snare.)

Good mix Steffen, can you send me a wav file of this pls?

Steve.

I'm happy if you are, Steve! :)

I just posted a modified version where I replaced the snare top sep with a snare from Drumagog and layered it with the original bottom sep. I also gated the bottom sep to get rid of the bleed-through, so I could process it better.

The snare has more punch now. I also modified the kick drum processing slightly.

The new version is in the first post. Steve, tell me which one you would like to have a lossless version of (if you want both, that's fine too). Would a FLAC be sufficient?

Regards,
  Steffen

Thank you Steffen.

FLAC will be fine (still flying the flag for FLAC, do you not like primates?) I would like the
Strangers_20120212_01_master_v1_dr11 version pls although I do prefer the bass on the other version you have posted.

Great to see this one again.

APE is no problem, actually, but I have the FLAC already. I always export my masters from REAPER as FLAC files because Audacity cannot load APE files (i use Audacity for some final analysis and for MP3 export).

I haven't changed the bass in the latest version. Only the drums.

Here is the FLAC.

I hope we'll collaborate again, Steve!

  Steffen

I am counting on us collaborating again!!

The drums are definitely louder (which is what the song needed imo) but I also think the bass should've been lifted in volume also, after all, the drums are working with the bass. That said, I really do like this mix.
Thank you Steffen.

That sounds a hell of a lot of work! Did you individually replace each snare hit!?

It sounds great  8)

It wasn't that much work actually, Steve. No manual replacement necessary - it was more of a routine job. :)

Paul is hilarious on this track! ;D  The accordians work well, and give a bouncy "fun house" vibe.  The new mix is cool.  Good stuff, guys :)

And Steve, excellent job on the drums.

Mark

I can't remember whether I listened to this before or not ....I'm sure if I had I would remembered.

It's completely off the wall  ;D  Makes me think of The Divine Comedy on drugs  8)

It would be good to hear the old mix next to the new one on all these Steffen.

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

The problem is: I usually delete the old mixes that I don't like any more.  8)

Maybe one of the other guys still has a copy of it.

Thanks for listening, btw. - and I'm actually glad you did not listen to the original mix. :)

Regards.

Sounds pretty good. I remember this one. Paul's great for these kind of tunes. Where's the chorus?  ;D
