Just in case you didn't read the other thread, this is a new mix I've done of a demo I recorded for my mate's band I used to do live mixing for back in the day....you know , before wife & kids etc  >:D  I have an Adat and the soundcard I have now let's me copy stuff into the DAW=, I have a few more to do after this one.

The band is call Jam Jah Man, Dale the guitarsist has played on a few of my songs here over the years.

The original mix of this that I did on my analogue desk helped gain record company interest, as it was recorded to 8 track the drums were pre-bounced down so I had very little control over them for this mix.

If you like this one there's another on called Gangsta here: -

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

Mix sounds good considering you where recording to 8 track. Sounds as good as anything done here today. Maybe even better in some ways. It's not overworked and everything sounds super clean.

I think part of it is that you had to commit the sound to tape, plus the band played them live alot and had the arrangement down.  The guitar sound is just what came out the amp and into the mic but we did spend alot of time messing with the amp and pedal and mic position before we recorded.

because there's only so many tracks you tend not to add part you don't need  :)

It's a good way to go. I think with all the plugs and extra stuff we have these days it's easy to overcook a song.
