During the night of August 20th-21st, my car was stolen from my drive while I slept in my bed. The day before had been a scorcher and I drove home from work, top down, really enjoying the cool wind buffeting around the cockpit. Around 8.30 that evening I went out, put the top up, locked up the car and went to the studio (cellar  ;D) where I remember commenting on here that I had a weekend full of music planned - little did I know at that point I would be writing/ressurrecting a song like this. It was a wild night, lightening, loud thunder, heavy rain. When I got up in the morning and drew back the curtain, nothing really registered at first, I was just awake and needed to use the toilet. While I was in there, I suddenly thought "hold on, something's not right"... looked out the window and to my horror saw nothing but a big empty driveway.......

Many thanks to all of you who contributed to leaving me with a nice memory, which only leaves me to say, enjoy what you have today, because you may not have it tomorrow.....

Steve McAndrew - Vocals
Jay Schankman - Keys
Andy Gupta - Bass
Ian Burrage - Drums, Production and Stolen Beamer effects
Mike Woodford - Guitars, Lyrics, Arrangement

Tricks in the Night - Michael Woodford 2009

Intro

Verse 1
All was still, the night was young
Shadows flickered in the evening sun
She stood there, all dressed in black
Together now, no going back
I ran my hand across her face
She smiled at me, so full of grace
One last caress, I turned away
Goodnight my dear, I heard her say

Chorus
Wind in my hair
Images rushing by
Singing loudly, not a care
Like flying through the sky
My pulse begins to race
My heart begins to sing
The sunshine on my face
Like flying on the wing

Bridge

Verse 2
They came that night, took her away
To somewhere else, far far away
Like demons, silent, they took flight
Showed no mercy, no respite
I awoke with bleary eyes
The night was long, with thunderous skies
I went to greet her, empty space
And she was gone, without a trace

Chorus

Inst. (2 x guitar harmony + 1 verse + 1 chorus)

Bridge

Verse 3
The times we had together
The memories, they still shine
Even though she's gone now
Now that she's not mine
She'll always be a part of me
Her spirit still shines through
The fog of disillusionment
Goodnight my love, adieu

Chorus

Did they ever find the car ? What was it ?

Just enjoyed listening to the song...always like listening to Steve.  Good stuff Guys , you can always rely on Stoney to supply the sound FX  ;D

CD

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten
