Most of my piano sounds come from Reason Pianos or Reason Abbey Road Keyboards. Sometimes I use Garritan or Native Instruments. But, I'm quite happy with Reason. Of course, that's not much use to you, unless you are a Reason user..

There are a few large piano soundfonts out there for free that aren't too bad. I used to use some of them myself. If you can't run them down with a search, I could probably point you the right direction. I probably still have them on my server.
Good Luck,

Hey Bobby,

I'd like to try a soundfont or two.

I have an old emu hardware sampler that I'm trying to use. I convert them into the emu format but not everything works. It's easy to exceed the capabilities of the machine (128mb). The sampler adds its own sound so you never know what you will get. Fun to play with though...

Thanks

Try this link...
They are compressed with SFark... It is an excellent archiver for soundfonts.
If you don't have the utility, download the sfark.zip and install it. Then you can un-compress the soundfonts.

These are "free" soundfonts of varied sizes. May some of them will be useful to you.

What the heck. For a little personal exposure, I've included one of my own.
It's EPS_Grand_Piano. It will expand to just under 90megs.

Not the greatest in the world. But, I thought it was pretty good at the time.

On my personal soundfont or VSTi development, I'm always receptive for comments.

  • Do or do not..there is no try

Is anyone using Pianoteq ?  I read the reviews and it seems quite interesting...done through acoustic modelling rather than samples......especially as it's only 8mb !

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten

Have you had a chance to check out TruePianos at http://www.truepianos.com ?  Very small, sounds really good, and is relatively inexpensive compared to other piano libs out there - I think it runs around $150.  Check out the demo (and the demo music they have on their site) - it's a very playable piano.
