  • Professionalism is an attitude
This is another song from Donna who did intend for it to be a dubstep song and who knows, I may still do a dubstep version. Thanks to George for his wonderful tongue in cheek vocal performance.

Thanks for listening.

Like Sequins To A Stripper

Lyrics - Donna Devine © 2013 Donna Devine
Vocals - George Williams
Music production - Billy Playle

Like sequins to a stripper
Is the way I’ll stick to you
Like tattoos on a biker’s arm
Like feathered tar, like glue

I’ll write the gripping chapters
On the pages of your life
Be the sword that slays for you
The scimitar, the knife

You drown me like a river
Full of hidden twisty bends
And draw me like a forest glade
That fills with haunting winds

Like sequins to a stripper
I’ll stick to you (stick to you)
Like sequins to a stripper
I’ll stick to you (stick to you)
[2x]

Like sequins to a stripper
Is the way I’ll stick to you
Like tattoos on a biker’s arm
Like feathered tar, like glue

I’ll write the gripping chapters
On the pages of your life
Be the sword that slays for you
The scimitar, the knife

The love I feel is painted
In a hundred shades of blue
A keeper at your lofty gates
I’m fervent, fierce, and true

Like sequins to a stripper
I’ll stick to you (stick to you)
Like sequins to a stripper
I’ll stick to you (stick to you)
[3x]

I loved working on this, I visualised myself as Bertie Wooster as I sang it.

It turned out perfectly! :)

I have had a few sessions with a vocal coach recently, and it's helping me work on areas of my vocals which I felt needed attention. This is the first song I have recorded since I had the sessions.

George can often be found playing stringy things, and singing...

Thank you, Doc. :)

A fantastic performance, lads! :)

Billy, thank you for the delightful music, and George, you're really coming into your own with this type of song.  ;)

Wow, that music seems to come right from Tin Pan Alley in the golden twenties  :)
A great arrangement where so much is going on and excellent vocals, That's a true gem!

One more time I'm surprised and excited about Billys ability to write songs and arrangements in such a wide wide range of styles. From heavy progrock to jazz and even charlston. Great!

Donna do you wanna dance to it?

Love the lyrics. The music reminded me of the old vaudville? kind of stuff from the 20's or 30's?  Great job!

Wrong type of hat !

But this tune is brill...a very enjoyable romp  :)

It would go well as the flip side of ' Liquid Crystal Ladies'

We never finish a mix... we simply abandon them.
You can't polish a turd, but you can always spray paint it GOLD
Great songs are not written, they are re-witten
