Wow Nick, great to hear this MCS classic given a spit and polish job.

Super performances, and a solid mix.

If I may nitpick, I think the mix is a tad light on the bass, which could be brought up a bit in level or presence.

Finished Works / After The Letdown - 2024

After 18 Years, I decided to give this song another go. Cheers!

After The Letdown (Candy Girl)
© 2006 Nick Testa - Paul Townsend

Nick Testa - All Music, Chorus Lyric, Mix and Master
Paul Townsend - Lyrics, Lead Vocals
Steve McAndrew - All Background Vocals
Kenny Grover - Drums

Candy girl, sweet-sugar sick taste
Pure white with an optimist's embrace
Carries on even when she gets knocked down
She stands right up, takes another look around...she looks around

Now Candy girl don't give in easy
She takes heart where others might give in
Pulls a grin, life's bitch does her best to wilt her
She sits right there, does her best to filter it out...she filters it out

After the letdown...letdown
She Cried
After the letdown...letdown
She Cried

Burnt her fingers, her soul destroyed her
Poor Candy, she ain't all that she was
Took a knock tryin to fight in her latest corner
She fell right down, just another forlorn girl....a poor forlorn

After the letdown...letdown
She Cried
After the letdown...letdown
She Cried

Her tears are for real
Nothing will heal, no more, it's over

After the letdown...letdown
She Cried
After the letdown...letdown
She Cried

After the letdown...letdown
She Cried
After the letdown...letdown
She Cried

Her tears are for real
Nothing will heal, no more, it's over...

Hope Enjoy!

"Wow!! I love it. It's a great song, with that "Beatles" vibe. I really like the voice and the mixing work. It sounds warm and brings a smile to my face....Count on me to continue making songs like this!!!"

Song written by my sister, arranged by yours truly.

The song was enhanced by MCS in-house maestro NickT, through his fabulous contributions on guitars, orchestration, capped with a superlative mix/master.
Nick – Many thanks for taking the song to another level, your tracks suit the song to a T, exactly what I was hoping for. Special shout-out for making the backing vocals shine, and for the lovely guitar solo.

Steffen – Many thanks for the vocal programming, simply wonderful.

Tight, really well-structured lyric. An unfortunately true tale and never more topical than now.
Fantastic musical and vocal performance.
Well done, everyone.  :)

Hi Nick,

The remix sounds awesome! Very full and packs a punch.

If I were to nitpick, maybe the top end (specially the drums) could be tamed a smidgeon. And a touch of more body to the snare and kick.

The drums are great, looking at the credits, I see it was Todd.

I had forgotten that I had played the organ track as well :).

I wouldn't mind redoing the bass, I can give you a much better sounding track.

In the meanwhile, if you could post a wav file, please.

Cheers
Andy

I had another take on the mix.  I found this on my hard drive.  I have zero/none of the plugs I used 15 Years ago!

So this was a mix with faders at zero.

But it was fun.

Thanks!
