Lyrics

186 Steps
(c) 2003 Michael Taub, Julie Wiley

Sittin' atop the lighthouse
Lookin' out to sea
Wonderin' what the tides
Have in store for me

Shackled by lunar forces
Mounting to be free
Endless swells give voice
Speak of what will be

Seems I've been here before
Time again to face this fight
Been here before
Where all wrongs seem right
Yes, I've been here before
186 steps till I see the light

Fog creeps in slowly
Strangle hold on me
Tempting words of suffering
Won't it let me be

Struggle with my captor
Break it's balmy grip
Solace in the ocean
I'm just another ship

(Instrumental Chorus)

Ships face such peril
Kalliningrad to Bali
Navigating untamed waters
Helpless cries from sea

Light nurses passage
Reflecting back at me
Endless journey pausing
Trials of eternity

Seems I've been here before
Time again to face this fight
Been here before
Where all wrongs seem right
Yes I've been here before
186 steps till I see the light

That was pretty rockin'.  :) Lots of nice changes. Fairly complex structure keeps it's interesting. Love the bridge with the sax. Takes the song into another direction. Really nice guys !!  8)

What I liked about this song is the "DYNAMICS"

And rock music the way it was meant to be played.

There are a lot of positive things and negatives I can say about it.  Since I am taking the time to comment and listen I will elaborate somewhat.

The musical idea are there and very good. There are some nice coloring effects used on various parts and I hear a mixture of Jazz, rock, blues and other genes all in this. There are a lot of hooks in the tune and the guitar riff is cool. Perhaps not original but cool  8)

The vocals are good but not perfect in pitch. Slightly not in pitch. The second voice 186 steps may have works better with harmony or double tracking. In terms of tightness I could say that the track is "steady" there are "no" parts that tend or sloppy off into the sun set. But it's not as tight as it could have been.
I have lived both ends of this situation but I do prefer some songs for tightness and their perfections where there are others that are more about the music than that.

I did like the sax solo. Kind of thought it sort of suited a slower song sometimes but I did like and enjoy it.

Cong rats in any regards.

The nominatins player brought me here, what a great song guys.

Who needs 4/4 anyway  >:D >:D >:D

I love the vibe.

My only feeling is that the bridge is slightly too long, but that's only after one listen so that will amost certainly change, although the initial reaction does tend to last longest!!!

Awesome Sax and what can I say Ray (& others) 8) 8)
