Just want to say thanks to all the guys that helped put this song together.   :)  It's really a great testament to the cooperation of the community members here. Time was short and life issues were happening but we managed to get it done and somehow made it sound even better than the original. This was a song that had been done last year and we felt it already had that 'James Bond' feel. It just needed a few lyrical tweaks and some additional instruments to make the contest. It actually became a very big job and a lot of decision making back and forth to get it where it is now. The addition of strings by Aidan and drums by Moseskane brought this song to a whole other level. In short I'm really pleased at how much better this song came out. Didn't think it was possible. 8)

Special thanks to all the guys involved. All I had to do was sit back and watch. Sort of !!  I was fretting and watching 24/7.  ;D

I really could go on and on as to how many drumtakes Todd did and how many mixes CosmicDolphin did etc. There was a lot of action going on!! We'll just let the music speak for itself.  :)

Devil May Care - Break With Protocol

In the city stands a tower so tall
If no-ones there who will hear it fall
Foundations built through many years
Covert party approaching near
An end in sight, transgressors justice
Unexpected, but possible life-twist
To kneel, resigned to meet lead's destiny
or Queen and country to win the day

All because you must make the break with protocol,
You must break the rules when you set out your stall
When representing the few, must keep your eye fixed on the ball
With no escape they won't even try to crawl
When you break with protocol

Rules are there, some say to be broken
Unwritten words so softly spoken
Body language that's never seen
Behind grand gestures, so clearly token
Whispered direction from unlikely places
Concise instructions, but never faces
If they fall on deaf ears are they heard
Inaudible guidance with no human traces

All because you must make a break with protocol,
You must break the rules when you set out your stall
Representing the few, your eye must stay fixed on the ball
With no escape, they will have no curtain call

There's just one chance you have at this
You must prepare the hit without confusion's mist
Closing in where Angels dare
Fulfill the mission, Devil may care

The time is now to make your break with protocol,
To break the rules, clearly set out your stall
Representing the few, never lose sight of the ball
With no escape, they will have no curtain call

You only have one chance at this
You must prepare the hit, the enemy dismiss
Enter the arena where Angels dare
To hell and back, Devil may care

Now's the time to break with protocol
You can't be late to make that break with protocol
Protocol

Judging by the post count I think this now officially the most popular song on the MC  :o

It was great fun mixing back and forth. There's four mixes of it around now - we can all have one each  ;D.....and it still sounds fresh.

I was really pleased to nail the mix as I felt it had defeated me previously....not now , I can proudly play it alongside my other mixes.

It's cool to hear it with real drums now , I hope the judges like it !

Here's to the next one !

Thanks Paul & CD.  :)  8)

Same way on our thread... tell you what... you get your people, and we'll get our people. Our people will coment on your song, and yours on ours! Yeah, that'll boost it up! :-)

It's funny,

I think so many have seen and heard the developement of these songs that the finished board gets much less traffic.

It's OK. We get a lot of traffic in the threads as the songs are being created.

Hey Dave,

I think its great, ;D  but I have to admit I was already a big fan of the original you did.
Good work everyone, hope you do well with it.

BUMP

I think I liked this version even more than the original, and it was cool how Steve changed the lyrics to fit the Book.

The solo break is unreal!  >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D

My mix is a little hot.   :D

Guess I got excited!  8)

CD's mix is very good. Just missing the drums. Todd added allot of spark to this tune.

Brilliant vocals!

A Classic!  :)

A classic for sure. Not too shabby.  :) 8)  I'm not sure why CD didn't have the drum seps. I can't remember.  ??? Maye he already started mixing with the canned drums? Love this tune though. I still listen to it often.

Excellent all round. Really enjoyed this.  :) :) Really terrific vocals! Whenever I hear Pleasuerdome, he reminds me of Shirley Strachan, the lead singer of an Ausdtralian/New Zealand band from the 70s, Skyhooks. He was a guy despite being called Shirley...  :D
